Agreed, that's the way. My hope is still to show them through experience why it doesn't work so they might choose on their own to avoid it. I like that approach in theory, but it makes a lot more work for me to show them every flaw in a way they can understand.

And please don't reply with, "All you have to do is this," or "Just flunk them," or "The answer is simple." There's nothing simple or obvious about this situation, and there's no silver bullet.

Professors' rights, in fact, should prevail here because they can't choose which students to admit to their classes. Students can choose which colleges, professors, and classes to expose themselves to.

The worst thing to happen to academia was the emergence of a nomadic administrative class like the one in corporations who just move from institution to institution setting fires and walking away.

Say what you will about the flaws of faculty governance, but at least they believe in the mission.
