One of the great things about geology is it never gets boring. I’ve seen petrified logs all over North America and I’m always amazed that they exist. These are from the Triassic Chinle Formation at Petrified Forest National Park in northern Arizona.

Baseball lost a legend today.

RIP Bob Uecker. Your sense of humor and love of the game will live forever in the hearts of fans everywhere.

My favorite baseball card of Bob posing as a left handed hitter (he was right handed 😁).

I do geomorphology.

The name is a play on words for the cosmogenic isotope beryllium-10, which I frequently use to date sediments and landforms related to glaciation and neotectonics.

I really like erratic boulders.

Medal of Freedom awarded to Jane Goodall and Bill Nye, two powerful and passionate activists for scientific literacy, conservation, and climate policy.

Well deserved honor by a president who trusts and promotes science, virtues that will soon disappear from the White House.
