🍽️ Restaurant Inspections Update:

While the Environmental Health Division has made progress on some recommendations, the Division removed the inspections data from the Open Data Portal taking a step back on transparency.

There is now no publicly accessible inspections data on their website.

🏙️ From Feb 2022 to Jan 2024, Berkeley saw a 45% reduction in unsheltered homelessness—a major milestone driven by City efforts, including voter-supported tax measures. 7/10

📊 While the HRT tracked some outcomes like trash removal, key measures—such as shelter enrollments and coordinated entry assessments—were not consistently reported. Public reports were also hard to find. 6/10

📉 The team also didn’t have written procedures for collecting data on encampments, which limited the information they had to guide their work. 5/10

🚫 The HRT paused some coordination with service providers during legal action and had limited access to Alameda County’s shared data systems used by other service providers. 4/10
