Un bon livre sur l’origine de la Ve République, basé sur la thèse de doctorat de l’auteur. Bien documenté et bien écrit, il dresse un portrait clair des rapports entre de Gaulle et les officiers d’extrême-droite. J’ai regretté l’absence presque totale du point de vue des Algériens.

Ich habe gerade diese Erklärung von Die Linke gesehen und ich frage mich, was Sie davon halten.
Die europäischen NATO-Staaten, ohne die USA, geben jährlich 420 Mrd. US-Dollar für das Militär aus, Russland 300 Mrd. USD. Diese Zahl berücksichtigt bereits die unterschiedliche Kaufkraft in Russland. Bei einem Verhältnis von 420:300 ist nicht ersichtlich, warum die europäischen Staaten mehr Geld in die Aufrüstung investieren sollten. Es stellt sich vielmehr die Frage, wofür dieses Geld ausgegeben werden soll: für eine reine EU- oder Landesverteidigung, oder etwas für das Modell einer aggressiven und imperialistischen Macht EU, die überall auf der Welt Kriege führen kann. Die Linke ist dafür, die Militärausgaben ausschließlich auf reine Verteidigungsaufgaben zu begrenzen, die EU muss Friedensmacht werden. Dafür reichen die aktuellen Verteidigungsausgaben vollkommen aus.

I’d be curious to know how the rediscovery of partimenti has affected research agendas. This anecdote in Gjerdingen’s review of Sanguinetti’s book in 2013 makes me suspect that a lot must have happened since then.
Thomas Christensen, widely regarded as the dean of eighteenth-century music theory, tells a story of arduous day-long sessions at the former Prussian state library in Berlin, where, in the hunt for rare music treatises, he had to leaf through hundreds of pages of manuscripts containing what appeared to be useless exercises in figured and unfigured basses. Ce soir j’ai assisté à un événement littéraire en arabe dans une petite librairie parisienne. ☺️ Le public s’y est entassé. L’écrivain invité a lu une nouvelle à haute voix et ensuite tout le monde en a discuté. Très bonne ambiance. Il y a donc un public en France pour ce genre d’événement.

Nigeria is already struggling with the quality of fuel. In March, it limited allowable sulphur content to 200 parts per million (ppm). This is still higher than the 50 ppm recommended by international standards. But when reporters analysed fuel samples from Nigerian petrol stations in September, one was found to have sulphur content of 800 ppm. This proliferation of dirty fuels is especially concerning in urban Nigeria, where diesel generators are ubiquitous. "In Lagos, houses are built so close together that the generator exhaust fumes often blow directly into neighbouring homes. Combined with car emissions, the air quality can be terrible," said Otonye Iworima, who advocates for cleaner air in Nigeria's commercial hub.
