I'm not interested in what you don't want to do.

Pronouns; thee, thou and thine. 🇬🇧
I think the supportive statement says the admiral made the decision and gave the order. It's a form of damning with faint praise.

I was on a jury where we agreed we couldn't believe any of the witnesses and acquitted.

Would a professional tribunal system have done the same?

🎶Oh the grand old Duke of York,
He had 10,000 men,
The establishment covered it up
And he had them all again. 🎶

As I said, pointless to look at this through the lens of modern morality.

Henry must have been supremely confident, or very desperate.

But there were no poor prisoners. They were already dead.
November 29, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Given that war was an economic activity the order must have been unpopular. 2/2
November 29, 2025 at 4:38 PM
You seem unable to understand that I'm saying that the order was to kill the prisoners and that in practice that was of more economic than moral significance. We may look back and interpret it against today's norms but that is a meaningless exercise.1/2
November 29, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Yes that's why it was an expensive decision which would have been unpopular.
November 29, 2025 at 4:20 PM
Yes indeed, a costly decision and unlikely to be popular with his army.

Indeed, so his order was financially quite consequential.

Ah but he's one of the good drug lords; he gives discount to children and the elderly.
November 29, 2025 at 8:30 AM
Financially, a costly decision, as prisoners were customarily ransomed.

It showed confidence in the loyalty of his army since it was their money he was chucking away.

He must have been quite cross.

Ok this is a tip that works all year.

Buy cream. If questioned, reply "I thought I might make a quiche". Wait a couple of days. Pour cream on breakfast cereal, etc. When challenged, reply "I was going to make a quiche but I don't think I'll get around to it."

Repeat every fortnight. Foolproof.
