I think the current generation might be less risk averse than earlier ones. It's definitely a different country now than several decades ago.

The amount of calculation that went into Oodi was just amazing as the weight of the building is suspended on a steel frame going across the whole structure.

Check yle.fi/a/74-20179655 and www.ark.fi/en/2021/02/w... for some recent examples. Of course Oodi is another great example with its combination of daring engineering, steel, glass, and wood construction. I believe they wouldn't implement a building like that elsewhere since it was a bit risky one.

Yeah, they've built some very big wooden buildings lately. My feeling it's money that's the constraint, not the level of our architects.

I agree most of modern construction is subpar and I am not a fan of modern ventilation solutions.

This is exactly the reason why they want to keep some relatively new buildings intact in Finland to avoid losing some piece of history. They were a little too eager in the past and removed many great buildings that should have been renovated instead.

It would be awesome to have Irish bars everywhere around the globe. Oh wait...

Estonia outsourced their jets as well. For a small nation it sort of makes sense due to infrastructure requirements.

Exactly. Cameras exaggerate the colors though that's good for marketing Lapland.

That's missing some understanding of Russia. It's far more diverse country than you might think.

Especially now that people publish so much. It's also a lot that probably shouldn't be published or should be refined at least.

It looks like Kurz is to Austria what Marin is to Finland. To be honest, Marin is more interesting character than our current PM so maybe there's a reason for this.

That sounds like a great plot for a short movie.

Ainakin kansainvälisyys on arvona siis.

My bet is spite. I should have put spikes on top of mine.

Yup, that's the benefit of vertical installations. I've noticed birds like to sit on top of mine and you know what they do next.
