💯 Gregory Peck is irreplaceable in that role. The End.

He is/was the sleazy right-hand man of both Sutcliffe and Watson. It's way past time to show him the door.

At first glance I read it as "mediation session", which was a bit of a puzzler... but either way, it's impressive. 😏

Allowing the LCBO to put it back on the shelves would tarnish his bogus "Captain Canada" image. My guess is he'll direct the LCBO to unload it at fire sale prices to his friends in the private sector, who can then resell it at a handsome profit.

It reminded me of a Ford press conference / photo op. The Chief of Police appears to be uncomfortable being used as a prop, and looks like he's thinking of some of the many other places he'd rather be at that moment.

I've felt that way since, uh... 2018, or 2019 at the latest.

As a fellow refugee from Xitter, I endorse this message.

CBC health reporter Lauren Pelley has consistently been a minimizer who is very reluctant to mention the virtues of masking and improving indoor air quality.

Do better, CBC.

No word from Ontario yet, which no doubt has a huge stock of Yankee booze in warehouses, but you can generally trust the Ford government to do the wrong thing (as Alberta and Saskatchewan have already done).

Those of us who naively thought the pandemic might trigger a great awakening and a new era of prevention and preparedness in public health were sadly mistaken - it had exactly the opposite effect, and public health is now in shambles. I wonder if the pendulum will ever swing back...

We'll never know what permanently scarred the psyches of these damaged people back in their vulnerable youth.

Absolutely! There are also a few others I would mention, such as Colin Furness, who seems to have faded from view now, and Peter Juni, head of the late, lamented Ontario Science Advisory Table that was extinguished by the Ford government.

We are blessed with the presence of Song Sparrows on our small urban property in Ottawa, as they return year after year to nest in a tall cedar hedge along one side of it.

My wife and I are not snowbirds, but 2025 is the first year in a long time that we have not visited the US for any reason, and we'll continue to boycott for the foreseeable future. Frankly, I'm disappointed to see that 70% of snowbirds still plan to go.

Typical - no mention of *any* measures that could "keep your family safe" other than getting vaccinated.

I donate every year. It's a valuable resource, and one of the few things on the Internet that hasn't been enshittified by billionaire oligarchs.

So, a combination of eugenics and winnowing out those who are deemed to be not economically productive. Public Health be damned.

In the early days PH was well-meaning, but blundered badly in not recognizing that the virus was airborne. Then it went from bad to worse as the let 'er rip strategy was adopted. In March 2020 I looked for better sources of info, found folks like David Fisman, and have taken precautions ever since.

The drastic downturn in public health largely came from pressure from the private sector, where the almighty bottom line reigns supreme. They saw ongoing awareness of COVID as a threat: updating indoor air quality, improving sick leave, mandating/encouraging mask usage, etc., would cost them $$$.

It's what I've come to expect from mainstream media owned by a giant corporation. As a public broadcaster, the CBC does a bit better but they need to up their game on the health front too. That will require a management shakeup, which doesn't seem to be a priority of the right-leaning Carney gov't.
