It’s kinda unfair to compare the price structure of cartridges to the modern mostly downloadable focused models, yet I will say Nintendo is no stranger to the tier based games pricing. They’re just really good at smelling blood in the water.

Nintendo catching up to the current trends in the games industry forever puts them in the hot seat. Only difference is when they slap a $80 sticker on a game it comes with little actual pushback. Microsoft got bullied into dropping the $80 games quota, Nintendo is rewarded with chart topping sales.
