Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

It's kinda interesting that in many ways the less ideological moderate democrats (eg Newsom, Hochul) have been rising to the moment more than the more ideological ones, because the ideology of the moderate wing of the democratic party is heavily wrapped up in being a huge loser
