Broadly I think he's meant to be weaker on his own but has many allies to draw on due to his personality. He's the only protagonist who consistently has party members at all and his fighting style from CoM on involves a lot of team attacks.

Pose a myrmidon in fire emblem hits as they say some out of pocket shit about the enemy archer they just obliterated with a killing edge

The original plays a little faster overall, for better and ill. While it was definitely way too hard, Re may have overcorrected a bit in some areas. Re does just flat out control better, though. I'd say it's kind of a mixed bag, ultimately.

Sorcerers in 2 are really fucked up but they only ever throw 3 of them at you in CoR

Eventide island is a novel sequence, but it's spoiled a bit by being built in service of yet another shrine. But also, it remains a stronger moment then the 30-ish "naked" shrines in ToTK

generally a lot of those answers are "Shrine." Feels like an extension of the gameplay-first world design they've always relied on compacting with a bigger world requiring more repeatable game play.

It feels like a symptom of a larger writing issue, which is that there's a lot of purposeless mystery writing in BOTW and on. A lot of cool and intriguing visuals or narrative bits undercut by having really shallow or underdeveloped answers

this is all aki ross's fault.

KH1 remake that reveals it was actually a CoM remake halfway through and sora just already forgot that part

This is just stock renaissance disney protagonist stuff. After this she went to her room to sing a song about not being understood by anyone including herself and then later she'll learn to use a bow in a song about an identity which is alternative and thrilling but still not her true self.

They didn't even actually need saix or vexen but they brought them in anyway just so they could make up for lost time by becoming traitors

of all companies nintendo feels the most susceptible to "someone from the old guard likes this property so it'll come out at least once every 2 generations forever"

It was controversial at launch, but in a way that's pretty quaint to look back on. I'd actually say 12's was less controversial, complaints about the gambit system and plot aside.

Axel and Saix are the exceptional returning characters that actually consistently get additional development whenever they show up. They don't even introduce the mystery girl stuff until the last 90 minutes of KH3

She gets into a poetry phase. Then she dreams a rhythm game.

Kairi actually does better then most because she's demonstrably good at the arts (makes Oathkeeper, has better chalk drawings). They xerox this onto Aqua but only one time.
October 27, 2025 at 10:22 PM
Kairi is a "audiences can identify that there is a problem not necessarily what it is" situation imo. The bigger thing is that she doesn't really get, like, an arc or interests outside of Sora in most games.
