I just don't think people have the right to spread cancer.

You're supposed to get the vaccine when you're 12.
November 28, 2025 at 6:42 PM
Also, I can't emphasise this enough: it's almost always people's parents refusing to get them vaccinated, not the kids choosing themselves.

Do you think seatbelt laws are wrong? Helmet laws?

I saw Blue Man Group once, and it honestly fucked severely.

They might also wear bald caps.

This kind of thinking is a good bit of what the Folding Ideas video "In Search of a Flat Earth" is about, and I highly recommend it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTfh...

One of these things is not like the others.

But in all seriousness, I think a lot of people's political views and opinions in general start with them having a feeling about something, like "I don't like getting shots" or "medicine is intimidating and scary", and then they do a bunch of mental gymnastics to justify that feeling.

There was one guy who drew my blood at the clinic I went to back in the US who was incredible though. He had a really nice, soothing voice, he was fast and skilled, and it was like almost a pleasant experience. I didn't catch his name so I think of him as "the ASMR phlebotomist".
November 28, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Oh, absolutely. There's also all sorts of deep conspiracy theory bullshit going on.
November 28, 2025 at 2:42 PM
I know it's not entirely that, because 1) there's some pretty open conspiracy theory nonsense going on here, and 2) some antivaxxers are absolutely injecting steroids on a regular basis.

AND CRUCIALLY the vaccine! The vaccine was huge!
November 28, 2025 at 2:31 PM
If it were me, I'd go ahead and get it if it's not like prohibitively expensive? But obviously it's up to you.
November 28, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Yeah, blood draws are the worst. It makes me feel anxious and sick, but not really scared per se. It's more the physical stuff.

What really got me over it was doing my testosterone injections. When you have to do an intramuscular injection every week or two, it really demystifies the whole thing.
November 28, 2025 at 2:27 PM
I used to be scared of needles, and as a teenager I tried to get over it by psyching myself up about how metal it was gonna be. Like, "This is gonna hurt, and that's gonna be fucking awesome." It sort of worked?
November 28, 2025 at 2:26 PM
At this point, I'm way less scared of needles because I do my intramuscular testosterone injections myself. I sort of had to get desensitised. At the same time, it's kind of easier when I'm doing it than when someone else is doing it to me.
November 28, 2025 at 2:25 PM
I wasn't scared of them as a little kid I don't think, or maybe I just put on a brave face? But yeah, it's just an irrational brain thing I guess. Also like, needles for a lot of injections go way deeper than you'd think, which is kind of unsettling.
November 28, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Yeah, people don't talk about the other kinds of cancer it can cause nearly often enough. I hope you're able to access the vaccine!
