I like video games of all genres, and create them sometimes. I like weird art shit, cute art shit, weird David Lynch shit, weird and calming music. Puppies and bears are prime real estate. Social media is more like a public diary, eh?

Essays like this one by Potholer are very, VERY important to the current political climate and explain a great deal about the kinds of minds we're letting tear everything down right now.

This is what happens when smart but conflict-avoidant people roll over, play dead, and buy into this nonsense that everyone should get equal time to give their grossly ignorant opinions about things they have a fundamental inability to comprehend.

Australians in AUD have twice the median income we do in USD.

This is literally the math mathing properly. You pay the same price we do.

Why use this approach, aside from obviously style choice? VRAM footprint hilariously low. One high-quality-compression 256x256 texture takes up only ~90kb. Atlas a bunch together, commit mass draw call extinction, everyone claps.

(Sphere casting a shadow onto the wall. The shadow's pixels are actually aligned to the pixels of the wall's surface texture. Looks neat in motion, too.)

Surface shader is custom, stylized to receive bilinear low-resolution textures and display them to appear as if they are point filtered but anti-aliased between the edges of each pixel. Shadows laying on its surface are texel-aligned. Normal maps supported too. So, in between realism and pixel art.

Well if that's true then I'm mistaken, I was assuming using an emulator for Windows would be akin to emulating a console game where it runs tens of magnitudes slower despite having massively more capable horsepower available.

And to be clear, I'd love to move off Windows. But there's a big difference between what I hear Linux evangelists claiming and what I see in actual broad Linux communities I browse where I see people to this day discussing compatibility issues, having to run Windows emulators, etc.

? I legitimately can't think of a single time I bought a new game that didn't work on Windows and I have almost 500 games in my Steam account which is 20 years old now. I'd be surprised if you could name one.

If Windows was a compatibility crapshoot akin to Linux, Linux wouldn't be so niche.

Nothin', I'm just trying to figure out why if premeditated bullshit on your site weren't enough to fool me, you'd think rapidly prototyping bullshit here would do the trick.

Sir, you run a sketchy website where every image and most of the text is AI generated to lend sloppy credibility to your clumsy attempt to finesse people out of money for nonexistent services. You might want to sit this one out on the bench, or maybe just delete your account.

But because, I don't know, I have a resting neutral face or whatever and keep quiet, I'm the worst. I forgot you're only a real person if you're wearing a smiley face mask and holding a knife behind your back.

Maybe I should just fuck off to Thoughtful People Island.

One thing I've learned from all this nonsense is that everyone is judgmental, but like anything else, most people suck at being judgmental. They can rarely hit the right target, and I catch an ungodly number of strays, especially given all the help and consideration I offer others.
