Very true. Incredible how they've increased over the years. I remember monitoring a pair in a BHG colony (under license) in W.Sussex in the early '90s when there were only a handful of pairs in the country. How times change eh!

I really don't know where they come from, but I'm hoping there may be a ringed juvenile one day to answer that question. My gut feeling is that July juvs are overlooked in juv Common Gull flocks, as they can be very subtle and easily missed.

Do you ever get July/Aug juveniles? I've found that checking recently fledged flocks of Common Gulls here often pays off.

Thanks Zak. Yes there's a few like that, all a long boggy/muddy hike to reach and thus don't get checked very often!
