Hmmm…I always thought it was made up entirely of his dead mother’s hair

Also—he was so popular with birder visitors I had to create a booking/scheduling calendar for him…I realized I was a secretary to a bird.

Rare birds are a blessing and a curse!😂

Yeah—still wondering if he’ll return/if he made it. He survived 3 nights of -8°F windchills and a heavy snow, so the little guy is tough as nails and a smarty too…was also the FATTEST hummingbird I ever saw when he left! Did you know they store fat in big fat pads underneath those feathers?

It’s funny you mention this, bc I had a rufous hummingbird here in NJ last Sept (stayed 4 months—left Jan 24!🥶)—and I had 5 red hummingbird feeders available to him, but his favorite feeder was my orange oriole nectar feeder. The RTH are always buzzing around my other orange oriole feeders, too.

Danger Danger…started in 80s but more of a 90s hair metal band. I worked at their talent agent’s office and got to read the letters from their groupies and/or met some—oy! I still cringe.

Also, their agents thought I was nuts when I said hair metal was about to get replaced by grunge & alt rock

These always throw me off, esp when seeing without binocs—my first thought is always a juv/female Rose-breasted grosbeak as the eye/face pattern is so similar at first glance. Always takes me a minute before I’m like “fooled me again, ya little sneak!”

Me too…pretty sure it’s the phenols, which I happen to be highly sensitive to. I also grow passionflowers, and when you brush the foliage it smells like pot…makes me wanna barf! I HATE trimming those m’fers.
