2 buttons!!! great way to avoid the old ux "should the button say OPEN because the doors open, or should it say OPEN because the doors closed and pressing it will open the door?" question

anyways bye this thread is devouring my mentions and I miss my mutuals so I'm muting it. love yourself and take care
November 28, 2025 at 11:15 PM
and if you keep doing dev, good luck with shipping your next game! bsky has a great game dev community so I'd def recommend connecting with folks here. its very art-minded though, which is extremely nice but might take some adjusting to, considering your current stance
November 28, 2025 at 11:15 PM
this is such a funny read, like I wish I could pin it somewhere. its just so easily provably wrong in how i carry myself and in everything I make.

but aside from my snark, I truly wish you the best and hope you gain a self-loving and artistic perspective soon, everyone deserves that
November 28, 2025 at 11:15 PM
I would, but I'm really just tired of this thread, you know? like, creatives get the point. explaining it to more and more people is just not worth it

if you're really interested in the artist perspective, go make something you love! and you'll understand the artistic value of just making stuff
November 28, 2025 at 10:55 PM
this is actually a sick burn and i very much respect it
November 28, 2025 at 10:46 PM
i didn't say this. who said this? did someone say this and I missed it
November 28, 2025 at 10:44 PM
well I'd hope whatever you do going forward, you're engaging yourself creatively and not limiting yourself to arbitrary quality measures
November 28, 2025 at 10:34 PM
i stand by it, it's a distinctly "creator" perspective that people pick up when they make stuff.
November 28, 2025 at 10:30 PM
have you shipped a game? I'd def love to check it out, if only to support a dev and see where youre coming from with this perspective
November 28, 2025 at 10:27 PM
this is such an oddly comsumer-y opinion in such an art/creation -centric discussion
November 28, 2025 at 10:24 PM
I'm very happy making stuff that sucks! its like, in my dev name AND my bio.
November 28, 2025 at 10:17 PM
hey you do you- art is a super nuanced topic with a LOT to understand, but i don't blame you at all for not wanting to read 30 bsky posts

but you have hobbyist game dev in your bio, so I'm 100% sure you'll FULLY understand once you start shipping your own games
November 28, 2025 at 10:16 PM
this is a child's viewpoint. begone
November 28, 2025 at 9:41 PM
so, aspects can be poorly executed. so say that design was ineffective! but a game as a whole, being... bad? reductive and absolutely useless for artists in development settings. that kind of thinking, imo, ONLY has use in settings where people are treating art as product, which is lame
November 28, 2025 at 9:40 PM
those memories, those experiences that resonated with so many people back then... that's value right there! an interesting experience that wouldn't have happened if not for that design. that's what art is all about, and it's a bit reductive to ignore that in favor of just... "overpowered guy"
November 28, 2025 at 9:38 PM
one more example, busted character in a fighting game. meta knight in brawl is fucked, way too strong. but so many people have memories of him, right? my friends and I used to do matches where everyone would team up to beat a spamming meta knight, as our own custom game mode
