The Trump Administration just put out a list of professions that will no longer be considered Professionals. Teachers are on that list. It's clear they want our children (not theirs, of course) taught by any warm body.

Non-educators usually have other agendas in mind. For example, profit or propaganda. Or like the current WWE head of the Dept of Education... both profit AND propaganda.

Teachers know what they are doing. They literally go to college for it. Not just subject area knowledge, but how to deliver that knowledge in an interesting way. Also how to handle classrooms of kids so they stay on task.

We know our students. Questions, Answers, Discussions fly back and forth all day long. We are in the room with them. We see how they grow in understanding. That's real assessment. @mrobmsu.bsky.social

We are mandated to do pretests, test prep, practice tests, and teaching to the test. Then there's the actual tests that we never see the results of until the kids are in the next grade. By then it's a new group of kids in front of us with different needs. It's nuts.
