I am opposed to rerouting the 72 bus via Victoria Airport in our current transit funding landscape. If we had more funding, and it was part an expansion, I would be enthusiastic. But it will result in making a long and painful journey for commuters and locals even longer for air travel convenience.
I lament that I bought a modern Subaru Forester because of its size, but then only my students' parents always parks their lifted F150 next to it and my SUV looks like a smart car.

I've driven big vehicles. I cannot imagine justifying driving a modern truck.
Had a 97 Jeep Cherokee Sport. Magnificent vehicle—I want another one. Felt "big" when I got it, not dangerously so, just... "We're not in my dad's Lada anymore, Toto."

Now?

Meanwhile I can't do this because 15% of the kids I teach literally have ever ridden a bike before.
Dozens of Dutch school kids gliding past on bikes, headed to a field trip with their teacher. This is what safe cycling infrastructure enables.

Prime Minister Mark Carney disagrees with the concept of a premier of one province unilaterally taking over a different province but his hands are tied by his unwillingness to do anything about it.

Hey #abpoli get this fucking clown out of your NDP. What the fuck.
The new Canada-Alberta MOU is a positive step for our energy future.

Meaningful investments in Pathways, clear measures to reduce emissions, and a stronger industrial carbon price give Albertans the certainty we need to move forward. /1

Naheed Nenshi speedrunning popularity collapse challenge (level: easy)
Alberta's New Democrats know what it takes to get big projects done.

We built TMX because we did the hard work.

It's time for everyone to roll up our sleeves and get it done.

1. This federal-Alberta pipeline MOU is even worse than I expected. Even before we get to the pipeline:
- exempts AB from net zero electricity reg (AB produces 44% of all electricity-related GHGs in Canada).
- delays methane reg by 5 years (75% redn by 2035 rather than 2030.

This is what being a principled politician looks like. I am stoked that Guilbeault was willing to push back like this, giving up prestige to stand for the right thing.

Greaves in Victoria has also had a tone shift in his emails recently, a lot less "defend the party" and more "we sympathize."
This afternoon, I informed the Prime Minister of my decision to resign as Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, Minister responsible for Official Languages, Minister of Nature and Parks Canada, as well as his Lieutenant in Quebec.

The stupid attitude of "don't criticize Mark Carney, you couldn't do better!"

(1) I never claimed I did
(2) You can recognize the smell of shit even if you don't know how to clean it up.
Agreed. But if you’re going to criticize a decision, offer an alternative solution. Especially if you’re an opposition leader.

There is no two ways about this. Guy came out of nowhere, had literally never held elected office, was too good to be true (for the boomers, I wouldn't have voted for him with a gun to my head), and his party is falling apart over his regressive bullshit.

Hey @milesintransit.com got y'all a challenge, very regionally focused but it's a real one. Try to get from Victoria to Campbell River on Vancouver Island only on BC Transit. It's technically possible, the best kind of possible.

This is one of the best interviews of an elected official I've heard in recent years. Too often journalists ask a question, allow the subject to just ramble on political talking points, then move on.

Quinn expertly reiterates things, zeroes in on contradictions, and stays focused. Amazing work.
