We had attempts this year by the ABC allies on our Council to bring a zero-percent austerity budget to #NewWest; a warning of what their plans are if they win a majority. We held them off, but if you want to keep #NewWest moving forward, we could use a little support: www.communityfirstnw.ca/events

We've managed over the last three years to keep tax
(and fee!) increases in line with population growth + CPI, while opening a big new rec centre, meeting our provincial housing regulations, and investing in community partnerships that support arts, culture and sport. #NewWest is getting it done.

As @apihtawikosisan.bsky.social said: at least he just admitted it rather than dissembling. But, damn, it's disturbing how deep the pretendian rot goes. It says a lot about Canada's relationship with Indigenous people that many of the most celebrated Indigenous writers and artists are ethnic frauds

They closed!? Damn, I was looking to pass by this week, the owner used to let me play with the steel drums he had near the front when I told him I learned how to play them in middle school in Toronto. Major loss.

Good eye, yeah, they didn’t charge for that. It’s a good neighborhood spot.

When I talk to Seniors in #NewWest, this is the #1 public safety concern on their mind 😲. Attribute that to the “novel threat” idea, or to the legislative void that means most users are on sidewalks in urban areas, but seniors never stop calling on cities to *do something* about this hazard...

This is why #NewWest is holding a Forum on Thursday to talk openly about all of the above: what are the benefits of E-mobility, and how do we address both the real & perceived safety concerns with Gov’ts uncertain how to act?
