Visiting my alma mater to give a talk on my book project (which is VERY MUCH in progress mind you).

It’s really a dream come true and feels like a homecoming. WGSS at UNCG shaped me in such profound ways and without my training there I would not be the scholar I am today. Simply thrilled!

Had a GongFu Cha tasting and tea lesson yesterday thanks to my friend Allie and it was so fuckin cool. Had never had pu’er before and it was such a different experience. One shou and one sheng and came home with some aged white peony tea to try 😇

I wrote this, which i haven’t done in over a decade, because I’m constantly coming back to the poetry (ever since seeing Maya Angelou speak one of the last times she ever did before passing and she said it, like June Jordan said it, to come back to the poetry”

Yes you can come back to the poetry like June Jordan taught you. Maybe when you’ve read enough you’ll remember the beauty in the sadness. Maybe once you call your mom back you’ll crack a smile. Maybe after you read those books you keep buying you’ll know enough to write your own and that’s as good a reason as any to bear it with or without the grin. Don’t cry just because it might turn into laughter. Cry! Or you won’t know what else to do. Today is apparently the 7th anniversary of my founding trans phd network 😭

Very grateful others have since taken up the mantle of maintaining the group and absolutely floored it still exists.
