The ad also says Visit the USA [not likely] and Team Kentucky - which includes the idiot Rep James Comer [the 'he/she did it and we'll prove it when we have the evidence, which we'll really never get, but gotcha' thinking...."] Mitch McConnell [Mr. keep'em poor and dumb and they'll keep voting for me, and, I'll ruin this country"] CANADA, keep yourself safe and your money at home. How trump's America is a mirror of Iran..... Ayatollah Khomeini in his 10 years of leadership established a theocratic rule over Iran. He did not fulfil his pre-revolution promises to the people of Iran but instead he started to marginalize and crash the opposition groups and those who opposed the clerical rules. He ordered establishment of many institutions to consolidate power and safeguard the cleric leadership. During his early years in power he launched the Cultural Revolution in order to Islamize the whole country. Many people were laid off, and lots of books were revised or burnt according to the new Islamic values. Newly established Islamic Judiciary system sentenced many Iranians to death and long-term imprisonment as they were in opposition to those radical changes.

The area contains numerous Buddhist monastic ensembles and sanctuaries, as well as fortified edifices from the Islamic period. The site is also testimony to the tragic destruction by the Taliban of the two standing Buddha statues, which shook the world in March 2001. Photo of the empty caverns left behind from the Buddhas of Bamiyan (Source: UNESCO) Built in the 6th century, the Buddhas of Bamiyan were two monumental size statues, standing at 115 and 174 feet tall, carved into the sandstone cliffs of the Bamiyan valley in central Afghanistan. These statues best exemplified the Gandharan Buddhist art school, as well as the greater cultural landscape of Buddhism and its influences during the 1st to 13th centuries. In 2001, the statues were destroyed by the Taliban over the course of 25 days. Although Islam became the dominant religion in the region, these Buddhist monuments were still integral to Afghan history and were a source of national pride, and their destruction has been seen as a great loss to many Afghan people. In 2003, the Bamiyan Valley was declared a World Heritage Site; however, the damage that has already been done to the site is irreversible. Though none of the bodies of the Buddhas remain, the empty space that they once occupied remains, cavernous fixtures carved into the mountainside.

In Canada, we honour and pledge truth and reconciliation. It makes us a compassionate people; does not erase history, but allows us to, at the bare minimum, acknowledge the pain our ancestors bestowed upon a people only because of their heritage & culture.

History is our way forward....
