You truly could not make it up.

You could not.
Where are good accounts/publications to get info about bird flu? Now that I can expect the US government to keep as much under wraps as possible. 🙃

Trump announces an executive order authorizing a 30,000 capacity migrant detention center in Guantanamo.

"Some of them are so bad we don't even trust the countries to hold them because we don't want them coming back, so we're going to send them out to Guatanamo Bay."
I can still enjoy at-home coffee for now and love on my people. Fiction books (intentionally avoiding most dystopian stuff for obvious reasons) have also been helpful.
I don’t know what to do besides get involved in local community/mutual aid structures, or how I feel besides overwhelmed. My daily prayer is to hold on to hope with as much spite as possible.

What’s keeping you going? What do you need? What can we help each other with?

You are wonderful & loved!

Colombian President Gustavo Petro's full post ordering an increase of import tariffs on U.S. goods, says he doesn't really like traveling to the U.S. because it's “a bit boring” and invokes the ancestors
No wonder you’re working toward a doctorate 😁

Rev. Julián Jamaica Soto’s “The Butterfly Effect” reminds us that small actions shape the world—a truth reflected in Dr. King’s legacy. On MLK Day, we honor his bold dream of justice, equality, and love, carried forward by collective action. Read the full poem at bit.ly/4jlWJrM. #MLK #UU

White cishet male converts to catholicism and orthodoxy are overwhelmingly converting to have patriarchal power and not to have a relationship with Jesus. ⚓️
"When they receive over $100 million to help resettle illegal immigrants, are they worried about humanitarian concerns? Or are they actually worried about their bottom line?"
Vance Suggests Catholic Church Helps Immigrants to Boost Its 'Bottom Line'
Vice President J.D. Vance attacked the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops after it issued a statement condemning some of Trump's executive orders.

How do I say “my parents + SBC church + post-9/11 upbringing were authoritarian af and I realized that maybe that was dysfunctional and maladaptive” in an academic way
I am working on a project for class that involves reflecting on the “roots and branches” of my leadership style. Lemme tell ya, reflecting on the roots of my understanding of leadership and power is giving me tension headache after tension headache.
The good news is that we don’t have it be. God is. 😉 lord knows my list gets longer by the day…
Dang! Is this is NOLA?

Martin Luther King wasn’t asking people to do community service. He was asking folks to liberate oppressed peoples.

You could look up your local unhoused and underserved community resource group, Planned Parenthood, &c, & ask them what kind of help they need. Or search for other volunteer opportunities near you. Or even just talk or plan w/ friends about what you want to work at making different.

Anything helps.

This would be quite a thing: Id this happens, Trump would be taking the oath of office on a Bible with his own name on it — not as the owner of the Bible, but a “commemorative edition.”
blasphemous grifting -- Lee Greenwood says Trump may take the oath of office on a new limited edition Trump bible that is going to be released tomorrow
What will tomorrow bring? It’s hard to say exactly, but I do know one thing: Love on your people. Every day. Forever.
A wonderful teacher to look at for how to respond to a growing empire and tyranny is none other than Jesus of Nazareth. How do I interpret his teachings? We must continue, and we must continue in love.
It is both inspiring and terrifying: Clearly there is an “after” because this cycle of tyranny and emancipation has happened many times before. That also means it has happens. Many times. Before.
Thinking a lot tonight about all of my Unitarian forebears who did not mince words and were willing to take up arms against authoritarianism and injustice. Thanks, @john-marx.bsky.social, for the push in that direction.
