SPOILER, but kudos to Fay Baker for the the slowest, most hilarious death scene. I mean, it was like — Wicked Witch of the West melting style. Had me in stitches.

Worth the price of admission for Elsa Lanchester’s slightly queer-coded cabbie. Her “Wisconsin” accent is ridiculous. She’s always in a Hawaiian shirt and cabbie cap. Too insane for it to not be entertaining.

I absolutely love San Francisco as a setting for noirs. Those dark, steep streets become characters themselves. Also — the Paper Doll where Jean Darr plays piano was a real-life lesbian bar. Cool they decided to shoot there in the ‘50s without trying to mask the name or location.

I saw a Letterboxd reviewer call Marie Windsor “one of the least appealing leading women,” and to that I say, sir, please get your eyes checked.
