Literally all this dude wants is for people to give him endless stupid awards and tell him how good and brilliant he is, doesn’t matter who, doesn’t matter if the awards are fake. Just gold stuff for the very special boy while he wrecks the world

If Dems take House, they should begin series of SCOTUS ethics investigations surrounding bribery, financial disclosure, past allegations of misconduct, conflicts of interest, failure to recuse, and, last but not least, the shadow docket. Lays groundwork for Court-reform as ‘28 campaign issue.

Not a criticism of this (excellent!) thread, or Casten in particular, but I do think Democrats need to start laying out clear, definitive and escalatory steps they plan to take in response if/when SCOTUS goes through with this.
The 14th Amendment says that all people born in America, regardless of race are citizens and have a right to equal protection under the law. For SCOTUS to be remotely confused on that text speaks to their racism, not the Constitution (1/3) www.cnn.com/2025/12/05/p...

There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

The Supreme Court just handed Texas Republicans at least 2 more House seats & possibly up to 5 despite the state GOP explicitly justifying their remap based on an unconstitutional use of race in redistricting.

Unsurprising from this court, and it's a bad sign for the upcoming Voting Rights Act case
BREAKING: Supreme Court sides with Texas Republicans in fight over congressional map. The new gerrymandered map will be used in the 2026 midterms. The vote is 6–3, with the Republican appointees siding with Texas.

Also as the dissent points out, just because the impetus for a gerrymander might be partisan doesn't mean you get to do a racial gerrymander!

"Purcell" is not mentioned, but the majority writes that the court "improperly inserted itself" in an "active" campaign.

The map passed with just weeks to go before the filing deadline!

Basically SCOTUS is saying that means there's no judicial review possible.

SCOTUS conservatives just blessed the Texas GOP's gerrymander. It'll be used next year.

They stay the lower-court ruling, written by a Trump-appointed judge, that found the gerrymander to be illegal.

While no clear vote, Alito wrote a concurrence; and only the three liberal justices dissented.

They overruled an opinion written by a Trump appointee. The Court is broken.
Texas clearly did a racial gerrymander, which is illegal.

A district court found that Texas did a racial gerrymander, rejecting the new map because it is illegal.

But the Supreme Court reversed it.

Because? Must assume the gerrymanderers were acting in good faith (despite the evidence otherwise).
