Argh! Mac OS Tahoe's push to round every corner that you see on screen includes the corners of PDF pages INSIDE its Preview app. And you can't turn the feature off. I know the document won't print with these little nibbles taken out of the edges, but still. Bit rubbish, innit? Back to Acrobat...

Would you ask a professional sports person the same question? Or even an enthusiastic amateur runner? If you hold down CMD and OPTION you can get it to do a cold scan. But I wouldn't. I cold scanned a comic page I was really proud of and it came out like this:

What is a desktop scanner doing while it's silently 'warming up' for the ten seconds or so after you haven't used it for a while? Is it bracing itself for the potential shock of a human arse or face being placed on the flatbed? "C'mon mate, you've got this. It's just a document. Not an arse..."
