Totally in agreement that it “shouldn’t have been a hard assignment…”

This is sparked by an IRA discussion. Go look at polling from 2024 and how little Americans knew about it.

Etc …

VHS is a good analogy.

What a hypocrite Carney is.
Actual footage of Canadian policymakers as they grapple with the challenge of global climate change.

Here in Europe, where I live, there's a serious effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In Canada, they're rushing to build new pipelines. What an embarrassment.

Of course idiocy as (1) shouldn’t be either/or but both regs & pricing and (2) at least keep regs in place until carbon pricing enacted and put into force.

1. IRA gave too much credence to the hypdogen hype which has bubbled (popped) for a reason.

2. Landmark policy that has been eviscerated

Re comms, having “inflation” in the title automatically dug the home deeper as it reminded people of INFLATION rather than having keep affirmative words/framing.

PS: Another excellent discussion of Enshittification which makes clear how it reaches far beyond "internet" along with highlighting some of the very many serious risks beyond just annoyance and frustration it creats.

Can we avoid the enshittification of clean-energy tech?
Cory Doctorow describes how software platform technologies go wrong and what it might look like when our homes and vehicles are on those platforms.

Perhaps my favorite French expression:

Petite kiki (little wee wee / penis)

Typically used as derogatory term for a man compensating for, well, shortfalls in life.

Thus, the ballroom is (yet) a(nother) Trump petite kiki.

1. The utter serial incompetence of "D" messaging and comms can't be understated.

2. The other broken leg of the premise of IRA survival is that overbalancing benefits into Red states / districts would create irreversible momentum.

The other key delusion: "thought it might prove more durable, not least because many of its provisions stood to benefit red states".
Wrong to
- think economics would override ideology & identity
- structure so much of it, consciously, to favor "Red" states over Blue states/communities

As the execs, all too often, put their personal tax returns before the interest of their Corporations and shareholders -- let alone something called the public interest.

Sadly, how many "should be" sensible policies, regulations, standards are there in 'our' world (climate, energy, urban planning, ...) that simply don't survive / occur due to so many other factors (entrenched interests, complicated systems, ...)?

AI taxis are going down the Waymo congestion route
Waymo privatized another public street:

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.
