I would be a bit concerned about this. There has become a lot of implicit pressure to location-share with "all your close friends" (read: anyone you might be on a sports team with, or in a club with, or friends-of-friends you might get a ride from, or someone you might kinda have a crush on...)

I know that the app actually does a pretty good job with answering these questions on an item-by-item basis, but I imagine that Kirk could show us what the distinctions are, so that we could figure most items out on our own from there.

Hey guys, this is great! Thanks for making this change happen - and for the effective little video. Looking forward to more. In particular, I'd like help with what "film" packaging I can put in the blue bag - plastic bags? clear plastic wrap from around a jigsaw puzzle box? ...and how to best do it.

Right. Makes sense. Thanks for all this work, regardless - it's certainly helped me understand much more about the dynamics and pressures of the city's finances.

Now, Burnside clearly does generate costs, too - water service, firefighting coverage, etc. Do those show up here at all? (I'm figuring "no", and that makes sense, but just to confirm.)

I'm guessing D 6 has such a huge spread between its two dots because Burnside?

Am I reading that correctly to say that, with just residential revenues included, only 6, 7, 8 & 16 cover their residential costs?

(I know that's a problematic way to look at things - commercial revenues exist partly to cover residential costs, but just want to make sure I'm reading correctly.)

All good - order in! Thanks.

I'm not in D9 (I'm in D8), and yes, HCC would be a better place for something like this to live, but if that doesn't seem to working, I'd be happy to help set up the paperwork / bank account / etc. I've done this with several small community org's.

(Regardless - and I'm sure it'll be sorted eventually - this looks awesome!)

Just tried to, but apparently I can't enter a shipping address in Canada?

USA - yep.
Samoa - totally.

...but not Canada.
November 25, 2025 at 5:26 PM
That's totally true, but the logic for bike lanes doesn't work quite as well, because they're only wide enough for 1-2 bike(s). A crew of runners takes all that space and more. It's like having a gang of runners taking up more than one full lane of car traffic, running towards traffic.

Crap! So have I! Thank you for pointing this out!

All the same, Wikipedia claims that English speakers have been doing precisely that for over 200 years...

In Bella Coola, there are two more dense population centres (of a couple hundred people each) at one end of the Valley, separated by about 4 km. Lots of people walk back and forth between the two. The Nuxalk Nation and BC Transit are now running a constantly-looping bus so no one needs to walk.
November 21, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Also, 75% (guesstimate) of the population in that purple bit live in Mulgrave Park. Those are the household sizes that matter for the purposes of this graphic. The Hydrostone is not irrelevant, but it's not driving the bus on that section.

Exactly! This is so dominantly about family size, as opposed to any "flight".

The Rona at Robie & Almon takes both.

In my reading, either it's got electronics (ie. a literal circuit board) somewhere in it, or not. It might.

If it does, it's e-waste (thar be silicon in that there toaster!)

If not, it doesn't need special disposal - garbage bag.

If you wanna, crack or open and check - maybe even separate them!

I think it's really valuable that Quebec has more lower level councils (arrondissements, etc.) where future mayors can learn at least some of the biggest "no, that's a stupid idea" lessons.
