And I state again...WE NEED A SEPARATE ARTISTS ALLEY (like the ones at anime/sci-fi cons) AT SCIENCE CONFERENCES. LET ME BUY PLUSHIES AND COOL PRINTS FFS.
I suspect people don’t know that most scientific conferences charge many thousands of dollars to set up a sales booth, which is why the vending areas are full of boring corporate bullshit and none of the fun wacky artists you’d actually want to see there.

Just cuz I suspect it's gonna be relevant: "underage women" is a contradiction in terms. There are adults and there are minors, who are children. Ditto "nonconsensual sex." That's rape. The only reason to play semantic games is because you benefit from obscuring the simplicity of these terms.

Serving as the "translator" between the techies and the non-techies is an incredibly valuable skill. Alas not every workplace recognizes that value.
I've been very lucky that mine generally does, and uses me as such when needed.
I have an engineering degree, and the math classes were some of my biggest hurdles... But for years I've had a steady customer-facing job where I've been requested for meetings & trainings because I can deal with subjects at the audience's level, including nontechnical people, without talking down.
I've spent 20 years helping new engineers start careers, tip from a top recruiter: there's never any shortage of people who can write code that works (or do the art needed, etc), her challenge is finding people who can do that AND anyone wants to work with, friendly, communicate, take feedback

We WERE fighting united and some of the Dems in the Senate stabbed us voters in the back - don’t talk to us about being united. Stop trolling us and do your damn job.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

I've said it before, and I will say it again.

We need courageous leaders that put working families at the center of all they do.

8 democrats caving to empty promises is an indefensible leadership failure

For the sake of our country, Schumer needs to resign.

[S] Yes, the Dems may have completely caved. And yes, it may mean fresh cruelty, brutality, corruption, and lawless acts in the name of derp. And yes, it's a slap in the face to the people organizing and actually pushing back in the streets. But no, there's not an "at least" to end this statement.

Hmm...I'm holding a straight flush in my hand. But it's like 20 minutes past my bedtime and I see no need to drag this game out. I'm just gonna fold and walk away with nothing.

Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

I'm real real close to feeling like we can't ever know who these 8 took the fall for, so maybe we should just throw them all out and start from scratch.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

@kaine.senate.gov you spineless coward. I am genuinely ashamed that you're my senator. How dare you cave and vote to reopen the government and get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in return?! Rest assured I will be doing whatever I can to run your ass out of office asap. Fuck you.

Pretty sure someone could win an election based solely on the platform “Because fuck Chuck”

This is beyond embarrassing
I assumed that since Schumer asked for such a pathetically low number on the ACA extension (1 year) it would get whittled down to maybe four months and pinky promises.

But if this reporting is accurate, they're not even going to try for four months. They're just going to take the pinky promises.

Ok that was a trip. And yes, going in blind was absolutely the right decision.
For this week's Friday Night Movie, I'm watching Weapons.
And as advised by multiple sources, I'm going in blind.

Hopefully it won't end up giving me nightmares tonight...

She, because I am Of A Certain Age (that age being: Xennial), I have two weekly pillboxes for my daily meds: one for morning meds, one for evening meds.

Today, when taking my evening meds, I grabbed the morning meds pillbox and took those and realized the mistake AS I was swallowing. 🤦‍♂️
