This is an excellent article on the depressing similarities between EU and U.S. (anti-)immigration policies and practices.

In Europe just as in Trump's America, the creeping criminalisation of migration and solidarity
An obsession with security is increasingly putting both migrants and human-rights defenders on the wrong side of the law. The trend is the same in both the USA and Europe.

The Courts Service annual report shows a 13.6% rise in new sexual offences in 2024, alongside a 6.3% overall increase in criminal matters before the courts. Cases at the Central Criminal Court, remain significantly above pre-pandemic levels at 35%.

On this day 7 years ago, the Repeal of the 8th amendment marked a milestone in women’s access to reproductive rights in Ireland.

While progress has been made, we still have a long way to go to ensure true and equal access to abortion care for all women in Ireland.
