We have a cat (former feral barn cat) who used to make a mad dash for the door whenever it opened. We got her a little harness and leash and now she loves little walks around the yard. She knows where her leash hangs and will beg for walks just like the dog, but she no longer tries to escape!

Have you thought about fostering a cat? Some shelters need temporary homes for cats or kittens and that might be a good way to test the waters before you fully commit. 🙂
