I love that we’ve made dedicated lanes for delivery trucks on 30th St. It’s so convenient for them. Oh, wait…

Even when they try (here’s a partially separated bike lane in Solana Beach near the I-5), it’s painfully obvious that no sane person would *want* to ride here.

Me too. I have some questions about a lot of things “designed” around there.

In addition, there’s a station within a quarter-mile of an airport access road that could get people on airport grounds (at the rental car center) and into a shuttle bus avoiding city streets. But walking that 1/4 mile is currently more dangerous than swimming across an alligator-filled moat.

How we could go so long without a rail to the airport to get people off the road entirely when it literally passes within an eighth of a mile from the end of the runway is mind-numbing.

Have any of them even seen the gold standard? We’ll never get there in our lifetimes, but we could certainly learn a few things.

The Pershing Bikeway in San Diego is fantastic and fairly steep. It opened last summer. The "Pershing Climb" section of the bikeway has an altitude change of 137 feet (42m) over 2,608 feet (800m) of distance. Here’s a street view while under construction. You can find videos of people riding it.

This might be the ultimate turning lemons into lemonade situation.
Ice cream truck music and everything.

@obcycler.bsky.social You'll be pleased to know that the intersection of Harbor and Market is "per plan" and the traffic signs are A-OK.

Isn't that wonderful? 👍😜🤣

Also, they start out saying these houses were built in the 1950s, suggesting that therefore they have small driveways.

Have they ever seen cars from the 1950s?

I was just going to say… they should park their cars in the garage like God intended!

What a mess. And it's inconvenient for the peds/bikes on the pleasant MLK promenade.
