I am looking for my next role or my next project! 😎

It is now fall, and it's customary that I will do all the right things, and engage with my network!

So a little bit about myself, below! 🧵🪡
To paraphrase Cedric Price: design doing is the answer but what is the question?

I find it interesting that this person created a graphic where they’re quoting themselves, saying this.

🌶️ take: if someone is wearing those somewhere near you and is recording you are legally allowed to punch them.

I’m just a guy, I don’t make the rules
Today in #404DeepDive: People are modding Meta Ray-Bans to spy on you. Already, there are videos with millions of views of men using the glasses to film massage workers, asking for happy endings. What's Meta's response? @evystadium.bsky.social has more.

Love the phrases "Cognitive Cost" and "Executive Function Theft" to pinpoint how exhausting it is to be constantly bombarded with apps telling you to use AI. I've been calling it "Corporate pressure" and "Force feeding". It's quite a lot right now. Seems a bit desperate tbh.
The #ExecutiveFunctionTheft of having to opt out.
Feeling annoyed at the cognitive cost of having to dismiss all the offers of "AI" assitance every time I use Acrobat to provide feedback on documents my students wrote. (NO I do NOT want an "AI" summary of this. In what world???)

Decided to check settings:

Nuremburg trials is the moderate position
He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

"Why American-style polarisation is spreading across the West"

Two words: algorithms and incentives. Mostly incentives. Until we modify or eliminate incentives, all we can do is watch as the fabric of society is pulled apart, strand by strand. www.ft.com/content/5060...

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

The "abundance agenda" is an incredibly designed piece of centre-right climate delay

The entire project of climate action comes down to *not extracting and burning fossil fuels*. So if you frame "being against things" as inherently bad, you can pull thousands of ppl into a pro-fossil stance.

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

Spent years wondering if design can contribute anything meaningful to the world beyond chasing profits & maximizing shareholder value. Could the answer be critical design as a critical inquiry towards business as usual?

It doesn't pay the bills, but hey! 🧵

Rejecting the premise here. "AI" is not coming for your job. Companies are dumping people because they are putting more money into AI investment, not because there is labor replacement via productivity.

Even in the Amazon announcement, Jassy backed away from the framing that AI took those 14k jobs.
Much like dictatorship or climate change, the threat of AI taking your job is no longer hypothetical. It's here, as shown by last week's bloodbath at UPS, Amazon, etc.

Nobody with any sense or decency should be there.

No organisations, government departments, or politicians should be there.

Everyone who is, is enabling this monster.
