Also, all applicants who are not selected will be invited to attend a day-long, online writing workshop in the spring with an established 2S/Trans, Indigenous Author (TBD)!

In addition to the ($4000!) grant, this person will also receive a mentorship during this process with me, where I will provide guidance and encouragement while they work to finish this manuscript!

I feel like it’s crazy looking to read, but the thing I need is there and I just have to keep reading to find the precious, delicious point haha

i’ve tried it many times before but there’s something about needing to be taught a lesson before falling into where i should be just keeps me on my toes

the way these ramblings are find their way into being something more than just incessant noise is giving me perspective or whatever lol

and hosted a private reading of their work or work that emboldens their love for poetry - it has been such a gift to explore poetics with artists who work mostly in visual mediums & seeing how they find poetry in all that they do; a real experience of poetics as methodology vs as medium and i’m 🥹🫠😭

ahhh! I can’t wait to explore material intentionally moving forward as well as reciprocity in exchange for context or access - affect for affect. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏻🥹

This is a line of a larger poem titled “there’s another life” about motherhood; hidden amongst abstracted letters and cree syllabics to further confuse and distort.

I am still writing poetry!

Though now, this practice of poesis is taking shape in a place of abstractions and challenging notions of legibility, consumption and [over] exposure that I felt from previous forms of publication.

this is a attempt at artistic sovereignty, veiling as autonomy.

I am returning to this space with perspective, an unwavering, white knuckled grip onto hope, and a more intentional practice of patience.

I am currently an MFA student at NSCAD University, cultivating and unearthing a material practice with an ever present poetic methodological approach.

I have taken some time away from actively engaging in social media, public exposure &/or public (over) consumption that comes with the spaces we occupy as artists, authors & academics online.

it has been such an incredibly healing time & I’m hoping to return in a more healthy & boundaried way!
