We went out and took Northern Lights photos with my phone (iPhone 8) and my husband’s phone (iPhone 14). These are roughly the same direction at the same time. It’s still very impressive with the naked eye (or an old phone), but the very impressive shots owe a lot to fancy phones.
I took this photo of the Northern lights and it is mostly dark with a glowing green blob in the middle-ish. My husband (with his newer camera) took this picture of the Northern lights. The whole sky is glowing red and green, backlighting some tree branches in the foreground. The same green glowing blob is present, but it is much brighter and surrounded by other light and stars.

I made a lot of costumes in my parenting career, but this one was the best.

Looking for something to make for dinner tonight? How about Red Hot Noodle Casserole?
88 RED HOT NOODLE CASSEROLE Serves 4 8 oz pkg broad noodles 1 t salt 1 t ground cinnamon 2 T sugar 4 tart apples, pared 2 oz red hots-cinnamon cake decors 1/8 lb butter Boil noodles in salted water until tender. Drain in colander. Slice pared apples as for pie. Mix cinnamon and sugar. Coat apple slices liberally. Place a layer of noodles on bottom of buttered casserole. Place layer of apples, dot with butter and sprinkle with red hots. Repeat layers, topping with noodles.

Trying to figure out what I had going on the last time I pulled out my jewelry stuff last winter.
A bead board is a sort of organizer thing with little compartments to store beads and then three semi-circular groves where you can line up the beads and see how they will look as a long strand/necklace. There is not a lot of apparent organization visible on this board, but there is one long length of black pearls and small black bicones that have been wrapped into a chain. Also a lot of amethyst and turquoise. It’s a mess.

It’s kind of wild how young I used to be. I really, really wish I still had that shirt.
This is me in 1995 at archaeology field school. I’m wearing a red ball cap that says “Stanford Rowing” (it was my brother’s), and an amazing plaid flannel in shades of green, yellow, and blue (I wish I still had it, along with every other Gap plaid shirt I owned back then), and a fishing vest (helpful in archaeological surveys), and some jeans and hiking boots. I’m holding some sort of collapsible shovel (I think?). My hair is long, blonde, and wavy. I’ll looking far off to the left (or maybe rolling my eyes) and smiling.

I love a Ritter Sport. But do I love *this* Ritter Sport?

The text on the package is in German, but says essentially that it’s new, and for a short time, and made with 100% certified nachhaltiger kakapbezug. I had to look up nachhaltiger, and basically it’s sustainable chocolate.

We’ve reached the good part.
The view of my garden from my back step. Close in there are some terraces with steps built in, and a mix of flowers and veggies. The thyme and queen Anne’s lace are appropriating the steps. Beyond, there is a small strip of lawn, then a terraced hillside with fruit trees, daylillies, hollyhocks, and bee balm (being the most obvious). Beyond, at the top of the hill, there are pines.None of the garden was here when we bought the place. I built this. I wish I had someone to get excited about it with.
