This type of info has to be based on making some assumptions. It may be the best the parties have since we don't register by affiliation, but it should be used with caution. Dems in Texas still have a significant uphill climb. I think it's doable, but will take ongoing work & good candidates.

I see us having our own version of the Nuremberg Trials. I expect the SCOTUS members who lied to Congress and the American people and violated their oath to the Constitution to be defendants in those Trials. Can't wait.

Apparently, the Bill to release the records will override most of their objections. Since the investigation is for Dems only, records for any GOP won't be exempted from the law. Hahaha ha. I wonder if Khanna & Massie thought of this when drafting the Bill. I'm still not holding my breath.

When did we lose pride of civic duty? I worked state government 14 yrs & was fearful of violating any requirements. It limited some rights, but that was the job. Ethics mattered. There have always been cheaters, but they hid like roaches. Now they are brazen & bragging of the corruption. Disgusting.

Truth is that this maladaptive defense mechanism that is designed to keep them safe is actually what sets them up to be harmed by what trump is doing. Maladaptive defense mechanisms always (never found one that didn't) end up creating exactly what they're designed to prevent. Fascinating phenomenon

The psychological pain of the cognitive dissonance & blow to the ego of being wrong about anything is too much for some people to endure. It's less painful to manufacture a reality that conforms to personal values than admit mistakes. It's what made them gullible enough to fall for MAGA at all.

I hope she has enough wealth and/or clout when she's freed to have body guards and food testers 24/7. I'm betting she's safer where she is than in the free world. People with ties to despots have a way of falling out of tall buildings or drinking poisoned tea.

I hope we are there sooner than later. I'm not a spring chicken, and I'd like the end portion of my story to be inspiring and comforting. I know we are capable of being that country, and I'm more optimistic that enough of us want it to make it happen.

It's time for the old guard to go. I sent a message to Schumer that I want him to step down as Minority Leader and let someone step up who can unite the caucus and keep them as aligned as McConnell was able to do during his reign. It'd be good to have someone doing that who's on our side.

If any of these attorneys end up keeping their licenses, I'll be amazed. Disbarment proceedings should become so common as to be routine. If it doesn't happen, then we learned nothing. Lack of accountability since the Civil War is why we're here. A nation of laws needs to apply to everyone equally.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was the one who issued the stay. @stevevladeck.bsky.social wrote about her probable reasons for doing so. It's a plan to have the best chance to win the issue in the long run. On the surface, it looks bad, but probably is the best chance to help. Let's hope it works.
