It is a *really* hard time of year. 💔

Certain Christmas carols make me cry every single time. (Yes, I am a fun person to invite to your Christmas party!) 😂

Oh, Ursula. I am so sorry to read this utterly heartbreaking news. 💔

It sounds as if you were blessed with an amazing mom: someone who seized every opportunity to remind you just how much you are loved. Wishing you and everyone else who loved her comfort and peace during the difficult days ahead.

It's both a blessing and a curse to have very online friends. 😂

This is cyclical. People complain to the Ombudsman, they investigate & issue a scathing report. Nothing changes. According to the report, by 2028, over 17,000 parental caregivers in Ontario will be over 60 years of age (us included). How is that okay? What is the DSO doing about it? Nothing.

It's so important to find ways to mark these transitions. (I went through a similar process earlier this year as I said goodbye to my childhood home. It was really hard -- I cried a lot! -- but allowing myself to feel whatever I needed to feel in that moment allowed me to feel at peace in the end.)🏡

The experience also made her aware of life's beauty. "The sky is bluer, the sun is brighter," she told me. "Everything about life is better after a personal health scare."

Life is fleeting...and yet it is also incredibly beautiful. 🌈

RIP Colleen.

I remember something she said during that interview -- about never taking time or health for granted: "Prior to my illness, I had the feeling of, 'I'm in control of my life. I'm in control, I'm in control.' But then you realize health is a fickle thing. And life is an even more fickle thing."
