It was an excellent day for acquiring new reading material. I spotted this commemorative magazine celebrating the 60th anniversary of The Sound of Music at the grocery store and then my copy of Read This When Things Fall Apart by @mskellymhayes.bsky.social arrived in the mail. 😍

It’s the little things that keep us going…. I managed to dig up an old photo of my patio door in 2018. I had forgotten that I tracked chapter word counts this way, too. As you can see, the introduction was 1000 words, Chapter One was 7000 words, and so on. (A spreadsheet would have been easier!) 😂

This is my go-to recipe when I am visiting someone and I want to bake something for them. I’ve made these tea biscuits so many times over the years that I have the recipe memorized. They’re easy to make and delicious.

Good news for Team Paper….

Spotted during this morning’s hike in the Vernon Nature Area outside of Kenora.

I'm so happy we decided to take advantage of the perfect weather to go sightseeing this afternoon. This is another spot I'd never visited before: the lookout at Petawawa Point.

(We moved here just under three years ago and we're still discovering all the beautiful day trip destinations.)

Mostly miniature rubber ducks! 😂
Weird answer but it's because I ended up with a large number of rubber ducks from doing book promo for my parenting book HAPPY PARENTS, HAPPY KIDS. This will make sense if you look at the book cover. Here's an old promotional image featuring....ducks and books!

A kaleidoscope of colour outside my front door. Autumn trees, an autumn sky: there's so much to love about this season.✨

Stayed up until 3:30 AM reading this book. Not only is it psychologically and emotionally gripping: the writing is beautiful. You should be incredibly proud of this book, @karenpalmer.bsky.social. 💗

Just had a memorable last boat ride of the season. The boat escaped from the trailer at the boat launch and floated away, so a neighbor had to help us capture the boat. And then, when we headed out for a ride on the river, the propeller hit a rock.

How it started: Sunday
How it’s going: Wednesday

I was going to add to this photo series today but someone dined on the mushrooms. (I’m thinking it was a squirrel because I spotted one high up in a tree, snacking on a mushroom.) 🍄‍🟫

I love it when I have time to slow down and really pay attention to the smallest of details when I'm walking in the forest. Here are just a few of the tiny marvels that caught my eye today.

I’m bundled up in a blanket, sitting on the deck, ready to dive into this book. I loved the miniseries. I’m still mad it was cancelled after just one season.

Here's a video from earlier this month of a deer watching me watching him. (I was out for a walk in the forest and spotted the deer standing right in front of me. It was an incredible moment.)

Today was an excellent day for listening to podcasts, doing favours for friends, and making a gigantic batch of chili.

I sold some books on consignment at a local store and I decided to reinvest my profits in something I've been wanting to own forever: a tie-dye t-shirt. Not only will this t-shirt allow me to time travel back to the 1970s: November me is going to be so grateful for this vibrant burst of colour. 🌈

Spent some quality time with the neighbours today.

They let me take these plants home with me. (They really should ask for references at the plant store.)

May they have long, healthy lives unlike their predecessors. 🌱

Water levels on the Petawawa River are really low. This was the view from the Millennium Trail this afternoon.
