I always wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces but tonight I will be doing so *fiercely.* I will be remembering the online friend who died this week as a result of complications stemming from Long Covid. I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

This is cyclical. People complain to the Ombudsman, they investigate & issue a scathing report. Nothing changes. According to the report, by 2028, over 17,000 parental caregivers in Ontario will be over 60 years of age (us included). How is that okay? What is the DSO doing about it? Nothing.
