DOOM and Q Tip are in the running, I'd say El-P and Rza as well

LeCarre is incredible. If we catch up in person I'll probably gush extensively

Thanks man! I must be crazy to be even attempting this but it's too late now! 😂😂

Been hitting a lot of charity shops and picking up great stuff by Moorcock, Joseph Wambaugh, Patricia Highsmith, John LeCarre and Georges Simenon, supplemented with a few pricier must-haves every once in a while. It's keeping me happy!

Writing about music is like dancing about architecture, as the saying goes...

As the club scene shrinks it's not too surprising the medium of electronic music would lean more towards the intellectual, the links between machine and bodily joy are decreasing
November 26, 2025 at 11:22 AM
It seems like a widespread cultural drive to make what was conceived as body music entirely cerebral, and like you that's not what brought me here!
November 26, 2025 at 9:58 AM
Haha I'm just not ruthless enough I guess!

I also believe in Martin Scorsese's idea of refilling oneself by returning to key artworks of any medium - "returning to the well"

Essential for anyone making art or music I think

Interesting piece

I've noticed how formulaic many reviews of electronic music are - a list of the identity, politics (and identity politics) of the creator, the concept of the release, the technical process

None of it says much about the quality of the music, or any danceability it may possess

I'm getting regular intimations of my mortality from the ever-growing list of books and films that are only just popping up on my cultural radar! So many cool things, so little time...

Cheers David sounds interesting!

Is there such a thing as uneasy skanking? I need to know...
November 25, 2025 at 12:46 PM
I believe it's called skanking

Heavy frost last night here too. Luckily I'm allowed to stay indoors today
