I got Oryzaephilus surinamensis thanks to the rice left in one son's uni kitchen! Productive hunting grounds clearly.

Nice! I've just finished identifying 21,000 Hemiptera specimens (albeit half of them were as 'Aphid sp.') Time to do a bit of gardening in the sunshine.

I agree, I find this genus really difficult even under the microscope. I'm getting less confident as time goes by!

Looks like a male Leptarthrus brevirostris to me Judy. Nice, not all that common.

It's an ichneumonid wasp, not a sawfly. Too many antennal segments. Most sawflies (including Tenthredo) have 9 segments.
