Here's a good case for AI. Unless someone is sending me handwritten emails, I don't need it in Gmail.
The Google Gemini3 LLM is remarkably excellent at reading weather observations from handwritten logbooks.

Example of recovering hourly pressure observations taken in Oxford in December 1883 and January 1884, compared to human-keyed data from relatively nearby sites.

Climate data rescue solved?

One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

Wisdom teeth removal took 3 1/2 hours today, so I feel like absolute shit. The bottom teeth just didn't want to let go. It took two different dentists, like 4 dental assistants, and 5 x-rays to get it all.

Y'all. These Tennessee results are really fucking good. Even if we lose it, it'll be a huge swing in our favor.

For every proposal to improve urban life, there is an immediate reaction from someone living in a rural exurb who is ready to lose their mind over the costs and implications on their privilege to drive a 2-ton living room on wheels through a city they don't live in.

I think I'd like to follow a cohort of college students over the next few years to see if they tend to be more religious or conservative relative to students who attended college prior to the right-wing crackdown we've been seeing on college campuses.

My husband and I are quite good at charging our Volts, but it's interesting that we're most likely a minority in that regard.
Lots of studies showing a similar result: people who buy "plug-in hybrids" do not, as a rule, plug them in. They are mostly used & operated as gas cars.

(My take is, EVs are improving so fast, PHEVs are gonna look like a silly kludge w/in 5 years or so, well within the lifetime of a car.)
Drivers aren't charging their plug-in hybrid cars, research suggests | CBC Climate Change News
Plug-in hybrid cars are a compromise for people wanting range with electric capability. But new research finds they’re less green than you think — so how should they fit into a zero-emissions future?
