The reason I didn't want to get into what "wrath" precisely *is* in the pod w Preston is bc it's besides the point since we know what it *isn't*! PSA needs Jesus's death to = substituting for God's "wrath" to each person at the final judgment. But there's a 0% chance that's right.

Given what Paul’s judgment texts say, it seems clear that being delivered from "the wrath (to come)" (Rom 5:9; 1 Thess 1:10) ≠ avoiding God’s judgment on our individual actions. Therefore, Jesus is *not* saving us from personal accountability before the divine tribunal.

At that point in the convo I was trying to explain why “wrath” in Rom 5:9 isn’t making Jesus’s death the substitution for what we must all face before the judgment throne (e.g., Rom 14:10–12; 1 Cor 3:12–15; 2 Cor 5:10; cf Eph 6:8; Col 3:24–25).
