The German grid fee debate is mostly about distributional effects while the problem is the missing cost reflexivity. The methodology to address an affordable grid infrastructure can supported by the long-run marginal cost pricing.
A new paper by @regassistproj.bsky.social and Technische Hochschule Ingostadt looks at longterm marginal costs and how, together with price signals from the wholesale electricity market, they can benefit the overall system. (Paper in German.)

The Dutch electricity grids seem to be half empty again today: TSO TenneT is making 9 GW of additional capacity available for non-firm connection agreements. This is huge: for comparison, the current peak demand on the Dutch grid is 19 GW.
