This is how I met Pogo too! I’ve tried to bait my own kid similarly but the house is too stuffed with fantastic comics for them to stand out :(

Apparently it was first published in the Pogo Stepmother Goose; I encountered it in a later anthology. Dad had 3 or 4 of them shelved with the Doonesbury collections, and that’s how I learned US history ~1950-1975.

I feel like maybe this specific attitude *explains* a huge chunk of the dumpster-tier birthrate. Why would you choose to have kids if that means getting expelled from professional life?

He was here for a bit, wouldn’t surprise me! It does look like everyone was having a lot more fun in the early 90s, even as the bottom dropped out of the Pittsburgh economy.
