Arkansas Sodalite Sundae🍨 with Hackmanite| LW UV🔦 Self-collected & curated This sundae included 7lbs+ of Fluorescent Sodalite inside of a 4lbs Depression glass punch bowl. This was one of my favorite displays to make! Story time: The location was researched independently about 3 years ago. I researched Arkansas’ geological history for about 6 weeks. On and off in the Fall and Winter. Then in the Spring, I drove 9 hours hoping my research and strong instinct was correct. Hoping I’d at least find one…maybe some? But what I found (on my last day-day 4), was unbelievable!😳 Sodalite was everywhere. Soo much of it. Boulders 20-50lbs to quarter size nuggets. Piles of it all over the city of Hot Spings. In Arkansas, the syenite sodalite and hackmanite is used for gravel, roads, boulders, landscaping, everything. I even found some roads that wld fluoresce under LW UV. Wild! The rock is mined from an active quarry at the famous alkaline complex in Magnet Cove, AR. I showed rock shop owners in Mt. Ida and they couldn’t believe it. I remember one couple said, “We don’t have “Yooperlites” in Arkansas.” Actually, they do! Along with the beautiful Hackmanite.
