i always parse recipes as early tech writing, and boy were some of them not great at that. especially the part where we question assumptions of knowledge with every step we write. (bias influencing all of this: i am, in fact, a Quite Good tech writer.)

for real, it's a thing that us neurodivergent kids don't get the dopamine hits the neurotypical kids do. not just the little ones they get all the time for any little thing done right, but also the ones we rightly expect for big wins.
