Great Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) & surrounding area located in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. Large diffuse nebulae, 4x bigger than Orion Nebula & brighter ~ 8,500 light yrs away. 1 hour of data this morning, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.

A female Blue-and-white Flycatcher (Cyanoptila cyanomelana) or Zappey's Flycatcher (Cyanoptila cumatilis) which cannot be safely distinguished in the field. Was feeding on Glochidion obscurum fruit.

Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (Dicaeum cruentatum) feeding on fruit of Scurrula ferruginea (Rusty-leaf Mistletoe). I introduced some of this mistletoe to our garden trees & flowerpeckers have been visiting.

Frugivory (fruit feeding) by Oriental Magpie-Robin (Copsychus saularis) considered rare but I have seen a number of episodes at 7 different trees. Here taking Macaranga heynei (Blue Mahang) fruit.

Saw a Crested Serpent-Eagle (Spilornis cheela) looking at habitat recently devastated. Painful to see a location, where I have watched birds often, destroyed. Dusky Eagle-Owl (Ketupa coromanda), presumed female from behaviour (not calling , less dominate). Notice the pink upper eyelids (seen better in 2nd image) - almost like make-up. Not noticed that before.

The Mystery of the Bald Myna
