Narrative design is seen as "expendable" because it's not "top-level game design", says BAFTA Breakthrough participant Cara Ellison. But narrative is "the thing that actually keeps people picking the controller back up."

If any of your relatives is defending DOGE at the dinner table this weekend, take out your phone and read every portion of this thread.
Being among the first interrogated and ultimately fired by DOGE, I certainly felt we were facing the business end of a right-wing conspiracy theory 🧵
DOGE was not a money-saving effort. It was an effort to chase down and prove right-wing conspiracy theories. They went after USAID to prove conspiracy theories about foreign aid. Then they went after SSA to, again, pursue conspiracy theories about Dems paying "illegals" to vote. 1/2

They're absolutely still there, just burrowed in, decentralized, and even more insidious.
Some outlets are reporting that DOGE "doesn't exist" anymore. But the fine print on that overturns the whole story: DOGE is just dropping its tarnished brand, not the chainsaw. 🧵

A lot of the senior MAGA are not deeply motivated by their job, but by the connection to power, being able to fly on a jet, have a public profile, and make connections they can monetize later.

They are the ITYSL character who does not want to leave the dating show b/c he likes the water slide.

This piece is good, but omits a big source of Musk’s remaining influence in government: namely people given key appointments during the transition who were never officially part of DOGE and who are still in those positions doing DOGE-aligned work—people like my old boss at GSA who came from Tesla.

Men will literally revive nearly-eradicated diseases rather than go to therapy.
Can’t believe the whole country has to suffer through the return of Dickensian childhood diseases because the worst, most ignorant attention-demanders decided other people’s expertise makes them feel bad

Duolingo has been unable to load new lessons for weeks now. I’ve tried logging in and out, deleting and redownloading, making sure app and phone are all up to date, and have filed 5 support tickets. Any other ideas? Really don’t want to lose my 1800+ day streak!

One of my top takeaways from @realgdt.bsky.social's "Frankenstein," which I'm SURE was the director's primary intent, was that we (collectively) need more bombastic and allegorically-decorated municipal infrastructure.

I am very fun at parties.
