I’m atching seasons 1-4 of #StrangerThings with my teen (he’s already seen them all) in anticipation of season 5; OMG so weird, gory and gross.. I’m not really into season 3. It totally looked like a kid show but it is so not - it gets worse with each season?

Mantel's system can be added on to the machines of power stations and factories making cement, steel, paper and pulp, oil and gas, and more, reducing their carbon emissions by around 95 percent. Instead of being released into the atmosphere, the emitted CO2 is channeled into Mantel's system, where the company's salts are sprayed out from something that looks like a shower head. The CO2 diffuses through the molten salts in a reaction that can be reversed through further temperatire increases, so the salts boil off pure CO2 that can be transported for use or stored underground. A key difference from other carbon capture methods that have struggled to be profitable is that Mantel uses the heat from its process to generate steam for customers by combining it with water in another part of its system. Bill 33 - Supporting Children and Students Act • Hands sweeping control to the Minister of Education, allowing the government to take over school boards and sideline democratically elected trustees. • Mandates School Resource Officer programs in schools, and no new money for Mental Health Supports and Child and Youth Workers. • Cuts vital student supports and threatens autonomy at colleges and universities, undermining academic freedom and student services like food banks, mental health supports, and campus clubs. The Ontario Conservatives are fast-tracking this bill, shutting down debate and ignoring families, teacher and education workers, post-secondary support staff and communities. We cannot let this happen.

I used to go to a chiropractor, and they did sometimes “crack” my neck - that was before I knew better. Never again. 😬

Apparently, the current legal definition does not account for deep fakes and AI-generated images. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I knew a female teacher that this happened to — a student created a disgusting image with her face on it and distributed. 😡
Neither the bra photo nor the fake met the Criminal Code definition of an intimate image, Puddington found, which is that the person must be nude, exposing his or her genital organs, anal region or breasts, or engaged in sexual activity. The case is the latest example of a grey area in Canadian law around so-called deepfake images, where Photoshop or AI tools can be used to cre- ate convincing nude images of almost anyone, often with little time or skill involved. In the fake photo, "it is not her nude body and, it is not her breasts - both of which are necessary to meet that definition," Puddington wrote in his October ruling (emphasis his.) "If this type of photo were meant to be captured by this section, Parliament would have specifi- cally done so ... This is not to say that a fake image does not cause harm and embarrassment, but that harm is not captured by the current provisions.' And the bra photo, in which there was scrib- bling over the woman's face, also failed to meet the definition because while it "shows a signifi- cant portion of her breasts," they are not exposed as she is wearing clothing, the judge found, while nevertheless stating that sharing a photo of someone in their underwear without their knowledge is "disgusting and disgraceful." "Nothing in these reasons should be read as say- ing that (the complainant) did not experience an embarrassing and humiliating event," Pudding- ton wrote. "The fact remains that the photos somehow exist, and (she) had to endure viewing and describing them in a courtroom full of peo- ple. Those photos may have also made their way into the public domain. She was emotional in court, and rightfully so. "While I am sympathetic to her, that sympathy cannot play any role in my judgment. I must apply the law dispassionately, and not try to shoehorn images into a definition simply because I find the photographs deplorable." The proliferation of digitally altered photos and Al-generated pornography appropriating some- one's likeness "is a clear growing problem and Parliament needs to act," said lawyer Gillian Hnati, who specializes in gender-based vio- lence cases and was not involved with the mat- ter before Puddington. "Yes, I do think Parliament needs to expand the definition" of intimate images, she said. "Femi- nist legal scholars have been sounding the alarm about this for some time."
