200,000 federal employees laid off for the crime of having been hired within the last year. These are people just after college or who had left previous jobs to enter federal service. They were given an hour to leave.

A coup is when unelected persons or parties seize control of the government and govern through unconstitutional means. Musk is trying to do that with the acquiescence of an elected president. Not quite an auto-coup. More like an on-the-side coup.
This at an essential point. If Republicans want to abolish USAID they're as free to do that as with any other part of the government - through Congress. (i.e., follow the constitution) There's a budget process starting right now. Go for it. Doing it this way is illegal.
Conservative budget wonks (Manhattan Instiutte, Tax Foundation) confirming that this is a consittutional crisis. Not liberal hysteria. Happening right now.

Heard from inside the National Cancer Institute, part of NIH — travel through April is canceled. Purchasing with government card is frozen. All public comms are off limits. Can’t even submit abstracts to future meetings. Can’t submit *manuscripts* for publication. All hiring activity frozen. Fuck.

Zuckerberg was voluntarily on the stage for the inauguration of a man who just pardoned 1500 criminal thugs who rioted to help him destroy American democracy. A corporate titan worth $211 billion who supports a fascist can be called an oligarch. Sorry (not sorry) if that hurts Zuck's feelings.
On Fox & Friends, Brian Kilmeade said he ran into Mark Zuckerberg last night. "He did tell me how insulting it was to be called an oligarch by President Biden," Kilmeade said.

Zuckerberg is the world's third richest man, with a net worth of $211 billion.

If that's not an oligarch...

When I hear reasonably educated and articulate people talk about “ending the war on fossil fuels,” I want to know do you just not believe in the science that built your cell phone or do you just not care? #climatechangeisreal

Neoliberalism has hollowed out economic communities. It has led to grotesque inequality where the bottom 50% hold 2.5% of the nation’s wealth. It also tells people that the only thing that is actually real is money.

Watching the news this morning and I see the full normalization of Trump has begun. “We need to find common ground.” No. We need to understand why people voted for a man who freely expresses hate and terrorizes people. We do not need to find common ground with him.
