Both ketamine and dex have a very high incidence of dreams. Do you consider dreaming to be an unconscious state?
Most other Anesthetics commonly used in #consci are also not void of dream experiences when memory issues are dealt with, but that's for another time 😊

Just to clarify: do you think external states (eg photon wavelengths hitting the twins) matter for anything except "veridicality" or something of the sort, when explaining why a perceptual experience appears the way it does (eg it has the color red in it) for a subject?

Great! This is exactly the kind of view that I suspected exists out there among my peers, and that I can't wrap my head around properly. I'll work harder on getting it!

That said, I read it as formulated that way (ie waking experiences are like externally driven dreams) for some rhetoric punch. But I don't see the meaning essentially changing of the order was reversed; dreams are like waking experiences driven from within the body/brain.

The way I understand the analogy is that the full content of an experience, be it in a dream or perception, can be fully explained by reference to properties of the brain (ie without reference to anything outside the skin)—it is not supposed to be a "one way" analogy, so to speak.
